
Why Mid-Year is the Perfect Time for a Skin Reset

We’re halfway through the year—and I don’t know about you, but I always find June a strange sort of checkpoint. Not quite summer holidays, not quite business as usual. It’s a natural pause. A moment to take stock and ask: how am I actually doing?
Back in January, you might have set some gentle intentions for yourself—maybe to look after your skin more consistently, prioritise rest, move your body a bit more, or just feel better in yourself. And if those things have fallen off your radar a little... that’s okay. Life happens. We all slip into autopilot sometimes.
But the beauty of this mid-year moment is that it gives us a chance to begin again. Not with a full life overhaul or a guilt-fuelled promise—but with curiosity, kindness, and a bit of fresh energy.
And when it comes to your skin, this is a brilliant time to reset. Small, consistent changes starting now can completely transform how your skin looks and feels by the end of the year.

Where I’m at Right Now
At the start of this year, I made a quiet promise to myself to care for my body and mind in a more committed way. And while I haven’t done everything perfectly (still working on the sleep front!), I have made some shifts that are really helping.
I’ve been going to the gym twice a week for the past few months. Honestly, I started for physical reasons—but I’ve kept going because of how it helps me mentally. That sense of strength and presence has carried over into other parts of my life.
I’ve also been exploring Yoga Nidra—it’s a kind of guided rest where you don’t have to “do” anything. Just lie down, listen, and let your body settle. It’s helped me a lot with feeling grounded and calm, especially when I’m juggling too many things.
Sleep, though... that’s still a work in progress. I know many of us in our 40s are feeling it—waking up in the night, lighter sleep, or just that sense of tiredness that lingers no matter how early we go to bed. Hormones definitely play a role, and so does stress. But recognising it is the first step to supporting ourselves differently.
That’s what this season is about for me: checking in, making small tweaks, and remembering that my skin and body are always changing—and that’s not something to fix, it’s something to respond to.
Why a Skin Reset Now Makes So Much Sense
So why is this such a good moment to focus on your skin?
Because summer brings different needs. More sun exposure, more sweating, possibly less sleep, travel routines, and a shift in pace—all of that impacts the skin. And if your skin’s been feeling off lately—dull, dry, reactive, or just not quite like you—this is your cue to reconnect with it.
