Mindful Morning Rituals
I've noticed that if after waking up I do something for me it'll change the tone for the day. Here are some of my personal favourites.
You don't need to do all of them, please choose one or two that resonates the most with you each day, give them a try and see how you can start your day off better!
Start the day with a few stretches, gentle yoga or just shaking your body and limbs gently to waken up the body. You can massage the lymph nodes in your armpits, above collarbones and around ears to awaken the body.
Sun Light Exposure
Multiple studies show that getting sun into your eyes in the morning shortly after waking up can have a tremendous positive effect on your mood, energy levels and sleep. If you wake up before sunrise, just get out for 10-15 minutes after the sun is up. If you are lucky enough to be able to walk your kids to school, the school run is the perfect time to catch those early rays of sun light.
Take a few deep slow breaths to clear your mind and prepare for the day ahead. Studies have shown that extending your outbreath will calm your nervous system. Try breathing in through your nose for the count of 3 and out for the count of 5.
Meditation for Inner Peace
Find a comfortable spot to sit quietly for a few minutes. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly. As you meditate, try to let go of any worries or distractions. This practice will help you start your day with a sense of inner peace and clarity. You can try free meditations from YouTube or download a free app like Mediato to get started.
Face Massage and Gua Sha
Mindful skincare. Enjoy the self-pampering ritual of face massage for a few moments after cleansing your face.
Take a few minutes to write in your gratefulness journal. Jot down three things you're thankful for, no matter how small or significant. Practicing gratitude can help you cultivate a positive mindset and focus on the good in your life.
