New Year, New Skin: Skincare Resolutions for 2025
Share
As we enter 2024, I’m reminded of how easy it is to put ourselves last on the list. Between work, family, and everything else, prioritising skincare or self-care often falls by the wayside. I get it—committing to regular habits, like gua sha self-massage or even a simple skincare routine, can feel impossible some days. But I also know how transformative it can be to carve out just a little time for yourself.
This year, let’s keep things realistic and gentle. There is no pressure, no perfection—just small, manageable resolutions that will help us feel more connected to our skin, our routines, and ultimately, ourselves.
Here are my personal skincare resolutions for 2025 that I hope will inspire you to join me.
My Skin Resolutions For 2025
Simplify Your Skincare Routine
If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried the 10-step routines only to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. This year, I’m embracing the mantra that less is more. A minimal routine doesn’t just save time—it allows your skin to breathe, reset, and thrive. Worse still, knowing all this I tested new products from other brands this year - and got irritated skin as a result.
Here’s my simplified plan:
-
A Gentle Cleanser: Morning and night, I’ll cleanse with something that respects my skin barrier, like an oil-to-milk formula that melts away impurities without stripping.
-
A Balancing Essence: Just a few spritzes to hydrate, restore, and calm my skin.
-
A Nourishing Oil Serum: Two to three drops of a high-performance oil to deeply nourish and boost my glow.
-
A Multipurpose Balm: I’ll keep this on hand for dry patches, or lips, or as a comforting overnight treatment.
The goal here isn’t perfection but consistency. Even on the busiest days, this routine takes just a few minutes—and I’ll thank myself later.

Prioritise Rest and Repair
Here’s a hard truth: skipping sleep and running on stress shows up on your skin. I’ve seen it in my own complexion—the dullness, the dryness, the tired eyes. This year, I’m making rest a non-negotiable part of my skincare plan.
-
Prioritise Sleep: I’ll aim for 7-8 hours of good sleep each night. Not always easy, but I’ll remind myself that this is when my skin regenerates.
-
Take Mini Breaks: I’ll allow myself even 2 minutes here and there throughout the day for a little reset—deep breaths, a walk, or even a moment with a cup of tea.
-
Skin Fasting: I’ll go makeup-free on most days and let my skin just be. I challenge you to try this with me, at least once a week!
It’s not about adding more to my day; it’s about intentionally slowing down.
Make Gua Sha and Face Massage a Habit (Even When It’s Hard)
I’ll be honest—there have been weeks when my gua sha tools just sit in the drawer, untouched. Finding time for a face massage at the end of a long day sometimes feels like one more thing on my list. But when I do stick with it, I see the difference: my skin glows, the puffiness fades, and I feel calmer.
This year, I’m committing to a more forgiving approach:
-
5 Minutes is Enough: I’ll remind myself that even 5 minutes of gua sha is better than none.
-
Be Consistent, Not Perfect: Some days, I might skip it—and that’s OK. But I’ll aim for a few sessions each week.
-
Make it Enjoyable: I’ll create a calming moment—with a nourishing oil serum, soft music, or just silence—so that gua sha becomes something I look forward to, not a chore.
If you struggle with this too, start small. Keep your tools somewhere visible as a gentle reminder, and allow the routine to feel meditative rather than rushed.

Focus on Holistic Wellness
Skincare doesn’t stop at the products we apply; it’s a reflection of how we care for ourselves overall. I know first hand that when I nourish my body and mind, my skin thanks me.
-
Eat Mindfully: I’ll aim for more skin-loving foods—colourful veggies, healthy fats, and nutrient-dense meals—without obsessing or restricting.
-
Stay Hydrated: I’ll make drinking water and herbal teas part of my daily ritual.
-
Move My Body: A gentle walk, yoga, or dance session does wonders for my mood and circulation.
-
Practice Mindfulness: Whether it’s journaling, meditating, or simply pausing to take a deep breath, reducing stress will be just as important as applying my serums. Read more on how meditation can help your skin.
This year, I’ll focus on wellness as a whole, knowing that healthy skin is a by-product of a balanced life.
Treat Myself to Face Treatments (Guilt-Free)
As someone who’s always encouraging others to prioritise self-care, I’ll admit that I sometimes hesitate to treat myself to professional treatments. But here’s the thing: regular facials, gua sha massages, or sculpting treatments aren’t indulgent—they’re part of my commitment to feeling good in my skin.
This year, I’ll book regular face treatments and remind myself that:
-
I deserve this time for myself.
-
Professional treatments enhance my home routine and give my skin a boost.
-
The act of slowing down and being cared for is just as important as the results.
If you’ve been putting off that gua sha facial or sculpting massage, let’s make 2025 the year we prioritise these little acts of care.
If you would love to have a treatment with me, I would be absolutely delighted! You can book a facial gua sha here.
Be Kind to Myself
Finally, the most important resolution of all: I’m going to be kinder to myself. Skincare isn’t about perfection; it’s about connection. It’s about showing up for myself, even when life gets busy or my skin isn’t behaving the way I want it to.
If I skip a gua sha session or my routine isn’t perfect one day, I’ll let it go. I’ll celebrate the small wins and remind myself that it’s consistency, not perfection, that makes the biggest difference.
Take a Moment to Reflect
Before diving into your own skincare resolutions, take a moment to pause and reflect on the past year:
-
What habits or routines helped you feel good in your skin in 2024?
-
What’s one thing you’d like to let go of—whether it’s a product, routine, or mindset—that no longer serves you?
-
How can you create just 5-10 minutes each day to prioritise yourself and your skin?
Ready to Reset Your Skin?
Let’s keep it simple, realistic, and enjoyable this year. Whether it’s simplifying your routine, carving out 5 minutes for gua sha, or embracing a holistic approach to wellness, these resolutions are here to support you (and me) on the journey to healthier, happier skin.
Here’s to glowing skin and a beautifully balanced 2024—one small step at a time.
